The Kansas City Star's iconic glass building downtown will be available by the end of 2021.
Officials say the newspaper's planned move comes after parent company McClatchy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February. The reorganization plan allows the company to renegotiate leases and some of McClatchy's 30 other publications have seen similar print consolidations.
The Star's search for a smaller office will begin soon, officials say. They've already determined printing work will move Interstate 35 to the Des Moines Register.
