The Hill is sold for $130M to local news powerhouse Nexstar

Two decades old political news staple The Hill has sold to local news television company Nexstar Media Group Inc. in a deal valued at $130 million.

Owner Jimmy Finkelstein reportedly had been building profitability and shopping the Washington, D.C., print and digital news outlet. The Hill had nearly 48 million monthly users and over 2 billion total pageviews in 2020, per Comscore, with over 100 journalists at the time of the acquisition, according to Nexstar.

Nexstar's will fold The Hill into its portfolio of 199 local news stations and 120 local websites
