The End of an Era

Posted online

Evangel University said goodbye July 16 to the last of the World War II-era barracks on its campus, top left, which served as the school’s Administration Building. The building was razed, top right, to make way for a new administration building designed by Sapp Design Associates Architects PC; construction will begin in the fall. The building can be traced back to the 1940s, when more than 44,000 wounded soldiers were treated at what was then O’Reilly General Hospital. The land was donated to various organizations in 1954, and Assemblies of God received 58 acres for its new liberal arts college. David Rensch Construction of Billings handled the demolition.

The administration building housed all of the university’s major administrative functions, including the office of President Robert Spence, right. More than $6 million has been collected through a fund-raising campaign launched during Homecoming 2006 festivities.[[In-content Ad]]
