CoxHealth's fifth location for The Clinic at Walmart is a joint venture with Skaggs Regional Medical Center.
The new location, in the Branson Walmart supercenter at 1101 Branson Hills Parkway, will open Nov. 2 and offer the same quick access to basic health care services available at CoxHealth's four Springfield-area locations, according to a joint announcement Tuesday.
The clinic will be operated as a collaborative effort between the two medical systems; CoxHealth will oversee daily operations while nurse practitioners and collaborating physicians will be provided by both organizations.
"The delivery of health care services is ever-changing," Skaggs Interim CEO Joan Phillips said in the news release. "As baby boomers age and Generations Y and X seek medical services, they are looking for convenience. So it is exciting to see three organizations come together to provide that convenience at The Clinic at Walmart."
The clinics serve patients at least 18 months old who need care but aren't sick enough to merit a visit to an emergency room or urgent care clinic. They offer treatment for numerous common health ailments, including sore throats, upper respiratory and sinus infections and insect bites and stings, as well as maintenance procedures such as cholesterol screening, blood sugar testing, vaccinations and routine physicals.
CoxHealth opened its first Walmart clinic in March and now has two in Springfield - on Independence St. and Campbell Ave. - as well as a clinic in Ozark and one in Republic.
