The cash countries have pledged to Nepal, and the size of their own economies

India leads the way in financial aid to Nepal, and its pledge of $2 million toward disaster recovery and redevelopment is well ahead of other countries when weighted against their respective economies.

A Wall Street Journal analysis shows India's commitments and grants are followed by China, $760 million, Japan, $260 million, and the United States, $130 million. The U.S. has the largest gross domestic product at $17.42 trillion, and China is next at $10.36 trillion, according to the journal. India's GDP is just over $2 trillion.

Nepalese officials say the country needs $6.7 billion for reconstruction after earthquakes in April and May killed nearly 9,000 people.
