Posted online
Never underestimate folks' willingness to pay good money to look ridiculous. Consider: The wildly, inexplicably popular ugly Christmas sweater trend of the past few years.

What started as people digging out ugly sweaters from Christmases past and proudly wearing them in holiday selfies has evolved into a multimillion-dollar bonanza for entrepreneurs, DIYers and retailers big and small. The trend has become so popular, the National Football League and college football teams have agreed to allow their logos to be used in ugly-sweater designs. Retailers from Wal-Mart to Nordstrom sell gaudy holiday sweaters as well as DIY kits to make your own at home.
