Which stocks have been the biggest gifts for investors this year?

USA Today outlines the biggest surprises among the year’s 30 top stocks, including one Springfield company.

O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) shares are up more than 30 percent this year, a surprise considering analysts predicted a 2.7 percent decrease.

Based on a USA Today analysis of data from S&P Capital IQ, here are the eight surprises. Stocks are listed by company, symbol, expected stock change and actual year-to-date change.

1. Cablevision, CVC, -7.6 percent, 50.1 percent
2. Electronic Arts, EA, -4.2 percent , 51.1 percent
3. O’Reilly Automotive, ORLY, -2.7 percent, 32.2 percent
4. Reynolds American, RAI, -2 percent, 42.4 percent
5. VeriSign, VRSN, -1.2 percent, 56.5 percent
6. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, REGN, -1 percent, 35.2 percent
7. Public Storage, PSA, -0.5 percent, 35.2 percent
8. Equifax, EFX, -0.4 percent, 38.1 percent
