Texas Instruments sets $7.5B buyback plan

Chipmaker Texas Instruments Inc. plans to buy back shares worth up to $7.5 billion as part of a new repurchase program.

The latest purchase announcement adds to the remaining $1.8 billion of a previous plan.

Shares closed at $48.15 yesterday, meaning the company could repurchase about 15 percent of total shares outstanding at that price.
