Texas cities lead nation in 1Q home-price increases

The largest home price increase in the country during the first quarter happened in the Sherman-Denison metropolitan area, just north of Dallas, with median home prices up 33.4 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

The Austin, Texas, and Dallas-Fort Worth metro areas each realized above 10 percent gains in the quarter, with median home prices climbing 10.2 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively, according to National Association of Realtors data.  

Nationwide, home prices increased in all but 25 of 170 markets tracked. Cumberland, Md., had the largest decline during the quarter with home prices falling 12 percent compared to the first quarter of 2014, according to the Dallas Morning News.
