Tesla’s Model 3 enters 'production hell'

Posted online
Tesla leader Elon Musk on Friday unveiled the first 30 of the company's Model 3 electric cars.

The $35,000 car is intended for a mainstream market, but it won't come without challenges. The first 30 cars sold to Tesla employees.

“Welcome to production hell,” Musk said, chuckling, to the audience of engineers, designers and factory line workers. “It’s going to be where we are for at least six months, maybe longer."

The Model 3 team is responsible for promises to grow the line to 5,000 cars per weeks later this year and 10,000 per week in 2018. Some 500,000 people have put down $1,000 deposits since last year to reserve the vehicles when they're ready.
