Tesla shares dropped by more than 8 percent Tuesday on news the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a fatal crash involving one of its vehicles.
The investigation involves a 38-year-old man who died Friday when his Tesla Model X crashed into a barrier. After the crash, the car caught on fire. Officials are unsure if the vehicle's automated control system was active when the crash occurred.
“We have been deeply saddened by this accident, and we have offered our full cooperation to the authorities as we work to establish the facts of the incident,” a Tesla spokesperson told Fox Business.
