Tesla posts first quarterly profits in over 3 years

Buoyed by nearly $139 million in sales of clean car credits, Tesla Motors Inc. reported its first quarterly profits in more than three years.

The company posted net income of $21.9 million, or 14 cents per share, in the third quarter. That's up from a loss of $229.9 million, or $1.78 per share, a year earlier.

Revenue more than double to $2.3 billion.
