A federal jury in San Francisco ordered Tesla to pay roughly $3.2 million in a racial abuse case.
Owen Diaz previously was awarded $137 million by a different jury two years ago, and the judge in that trial reduced the amount to $15 million. Diaz challenged the amount in the new trial.
Diaz, a Black man, has alleged he was subjected to repeated racist offenses while working as a contractor at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, near San Francisco.
