Tesla buys Michigan auto supplier

Tesla Motors is acquiring a Grand Rapids-based auto supplier, giving the Silicon Valley technology company a physical presence in Michigan, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Tesla agreed to purchase Riviera Tool in its first acquisition.

Riviera, which makes stamping parts that are shipped to Tesla's assembly plant in Fremont, Calif., is expected to be renamed Tesla Tool & Die.
