Christine Temple, executive editor of Springfield Business Journal since 2021 and a journalist with SBJ since 2018 when she joined the newsroom as features editor, exited the company yesterday.

“I appreciate Christine’s contributions to the organization and wish her well in her future endeavors,” SBJ Publisher and Owner Marty Goodnight told staff members in a written statement.

“Our commitment remains unchanged: serving our readers, serving our advertisers and producing high-quality journalism for the business community,” Goodnight added.

Temple said in a written statement that it’s “been an honor to lead the newsroom and creative department at SBJ."

“Together, we have reported on important stories while maintaining trust from readers and integrity in our work,” she said. “For three consecutive years, SBJ has won the Gold Cup Award from the Missouri Press Association, alongside numerous awards from the Alliance of Area Business Publishers. Those achievements are only possible with our excellent team and a strong commitment to readers and the mission. I’m proud of the reporters, photographers and designers I collaborated with over the last eight years to produce this meaningful work and grateful to the community members and business leaders who have trusted me to tell their stories."

Goodnight told staffers that effective yesterday, Gregory Holman would lead the SBJ newsroom as interim editor. Holman joined SBJ in July 2025 after serving as a journalist at southwest Missouri newsrooms in broadcasting, digital, reporting and editing roles.

SBJ Director of Operations Monica Whitworth is taking on responsibility for SBJ’s creative and production teams, Goodnight told staffers.

“Monica brings more than 30 years of experience in newspaper production, advertising design and operations leadership,” Goodnight said in the statement.
