Televangelist Jim Bakker died Monday. He was 86.
Bakker's Christian media empire collapsed amid a sex scandal and a scheme to steal nearly $160 million from followers. Bakker served prison time after being convicted of 24 fraud and conspiracy counts.
After his prison sentence, Bakker returned to television from a Missouri compound. There, he espoused apocalyptic warnings and false claims that a product could treat COVID-19.
