Telethon raises $1.7M for Children's Miracle Network

Posted online
The annual telethon for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals of CoxHealth raised $1.7 million, the largest amount in the event’s 30-year history.

Held May 30 and 31, this year’s event brought in 7.7 percent more than the $1.6 million raised in 2015, according to a news release.

The donations will be used for:
  • special needs, such as wheelchairs, leg braces, prescription drugs and travel expenses;
  • family care grants to help pay for CoxHealth hospital bills, as well as physical, speech and occupational therapy;
  • Care Mobile, a medical unit on wheels that provides basic health services to kids from low-income families;
  • educational programs, including preventing drinking and driving and shaken baby syndrome, and learning about healthy eating and exercise, and car seat, water and bicycle safety; and
  • life-saving equipment, such as devices for pediatric hospital departments and ambulances.
