TelComm Credit Union yesterday held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its sixth branch, located in south Springfield.
TelComm President and CEO Don Ackerman said the branch - located at 1750 E. Republic Road, across from Campbell United Methodist Church - is managed by Lou Crawford.
Its staff of four offers services including loans, safety deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, and savings and checking accounts.
Ackerman said construction was completed at the end of October under budget, and the branch opened for business Nov. 1.
Ackerman said general contractor MoDoCo Inc. subcontracted jobs out to complete the project slightly before schedule, saving TelComm money on their contract, which was based on the number of days from the start of the project to completion.
The building, formerly a Git-N-Go, already had its interior removed when it was purchased by TelComm for an undisclosed amount, shortening the construction time.
Smith-Goth Engineers Inc. was responsible for electrical, mechanical and plumbing engineering. Hood-Rich Inc. designed the renovations in addition to their civil and structural engineer work for the branch. Cathy King of Integrity Design was the interior designer.
Ackerman said 300 square feet was added to the building to incorporate a drive-thru and covered ATM, bringing total square footage to 3,500.
Ackerman declined to disclose renovation costs, saying not all of the invoices involved with the project have been received.
He said the south-side location was attractive to TelComm because there previously hadn’t been a branch in the area to serve TelComm members in that part of Springfield. He said the renovations to Republic Road and the area’s thriving businesses also played a role in choosing the location.
TelComm’s newest branch will hold an open house on Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon.[[In-content Ad]]
