Teavana - which operates five Missouri stores in Chesterfield, Des Peres, Independence and St. Louis - was acquired Dec. 31 by Starbucks Coffee Co. for roughly $620 million, according to a news release.
Starbucks operates a shop near JCPenney in Battlefield Mall, and the 828-square-foot Teavana location is opening in Sephora Court, near Bath & Body Works, around April 12, according to Kelley Santiago of Bitner Goodman Inc. - which handles public relations for Battlefield Mall.
“We are thrilled to welcome Teavana as the latest addition to the dynamic leasing activity going on at Battlefield Mall,” said Tricia Sanders, Simon director of marketing and business development, in the release.
Teavana offers more than 100 tea selections - boasting loose-leaf tea from all over the world, including white, green, black, oolong, herbal, rooibos and mate teas, the release said.
After its December purchase of Teavana, Jeff Hansberry, Starbucks president of channel development and emerging brands, said Teavana would be expanding its presence.
"Starbucks and Teavana are embarking on the next chapter of a journey that we believe will reinvent the way the world enjoys tea, just as Starbucks did decades ago for coffee," Hansberry said in a Dec. 31
blog post.
