Teamsters reject new YRC labor agreement

Members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters have rejected the terms of a proposed new labor agreement with YRC Worldwide Inc., putting in jeopardy the Overland Park-based company's plans to pay $1.4 billion in debt coming due, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

“Our members have made huge sacrifices to keep this company alive, and a majority made the decision not to sacrifice anymore,” said Tyson Johnson, director of the Teamsters National Freight Division, in a news release.

The Teamsters voted down the proposal 61 percent to 39 percent.
