TD Ameritrade buying rival Scottrade for $4B

Discount brokerage TD Ameritrade is buying rival Scottrade in a deal worth $4 billion.

Announced today by both companies, the deal would quadruple TD Ameritrade's branch network.

TD Bank, which already owns 42 percent of TD Ameritrade, will increase its stake in the combined discount broker.
