TBS to telecast competitive video gaming league

Cable network TBS is bringing competitive video gaming to its slate of programming.

Through a partnership with talent agency WME / IMG, the channel will air televised tournaments twice a year that will include a 10-week regular season, playoffs and championship.

Gamers will be playing Valve's "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive," a multiplayer counter-terrorism first-person shooter.

Gaming research company NewZoo says eSports have a global viewership of more than 226 million, with numbers expected to grow to 323 million by 2018.
