Taxpayers have two ways to check refunds

Posted online
The Missouri Department of Revenue announced Monday that two free methods for checking the status of a tax return are now available to the public.

Unveiled last year, the department’s Interactive Voice Response system allows taxpayers to obtain information about their tax return by calling (866) 433-7259.

The department also continues to offer its Online Personal Tax Return Inquiry system, which is available online at www.dor.mo.gov. Web site visitors should click the “Where’s My Tax Return?” link on the right side of the page.

To use either service, taxpayers will input the first Social Security number on the tax return, their filing status and the expected refund or balance. Users of the phone system should expect the call to last about 3 minutes, according to a department news release.
