Construction of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's $3.4 million Doling Aquatics Center wrapped up this month, and a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony has been scheduled for next week.

Funded by the 1/4-cent countywide Parks sales tax approved by voters in 2006, the 13,778-square-foot addition to the Doling Family Center includes three pools in a building built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Silver standards. Construction began in fall 2011, according to a news release.

Built at the former site of Doling Pool, Doling Aquatics Center, 301 E. Talmage St., adjoins the 2003-built Doling Family Center.

Dock Brothers Construction Co. served as general contractor for the project, which was designed by Hood-Rich Inc. Engineers were Hood-Rich, civil and structural, and Smith-Goth Engineers Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Officials have scheduled a Feb. 23 grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
