Four eateries were voted Best of the Fest during the sixth annual Taste of Springfield event, held Oct. 6 at Park Central Square and featuring OktoberFest Village.

During the downtown Springfield event - which featured 30 locally owned and operated restaurants providing samples of their cuisine, as well as locally brewed beer - festival attendees voted on their favorites in four categories - Best Appetizer, Best Entree, Best Dessert and Best Booth, according to an Oct. 8 news release from Urban Districts Alliance.

The winners were:
  • Best Appetizer, Jimm's Steakhouse & Pub for its bacon-wrapped Peppadews;
  • Best Entree, Dublin's Pass Irish Pub for its cottage pie;
  • Best Dessert, The Cup for its pumpkin harvest cupcake; and
  • Best Booth, Enoch's BBQ & Southern Classics.
Presented by the Springfield Grocer Co., Taste of Springfield is coordinated by UDA. This year, the event drew roughly 8,000 attendees, according to Sarah Hough, community events coordinator for UDA.
