Target, CVS and Walgreens became the latest retailers to announce they would require shoppers to wear face coverings in stores nationwide.
The announcements came a day after Walmart, Kroger and Kohl's issued orders requiring masks starting next week.
In the United States, a new daily record of more than 77,000 COVID-19 cases was set Thursday, according to Reuters. The death count rose by nearly 1,000.
