Taney County is getting $250,000 in additional funding from the state Community Development Block Grant program because the county is in an area that received a presidential disaster declaration.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development announced Wednesday that 11 projects in Missouri areas affected by weather disasters in 2008 are getting supplemental CDBG funds, totaling more than $2.7 million. Taney County's money is for improvements to Boys Camp Road.
Congress approved the funding by passing the Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act of 2009. That law appropriated $6.5 billion in CDBG funds for disaster relief, long-term recovery, and infrastructure restoration expenses, along with housing and economic revitalization, in areas affected by natural disasters in 2008.
All projects had to either benefit residents with low to moderate income, lead to slum and blight removal, or correct an urgent threat to health and safety.
