Talking Barbie too 'creepy' for some

Posted online
She listens intently to everything said to her and remembers every detail, so that she can bring them up in subsequent conversations. Kind of sounds like a possibly vindictive girlfriend - or, just Barbie.

Hello Barbie, the newest Mattel doll in the decades-old line, records what is said to her and stores it in the cloud. The next time you talk to her, she recognizes your voice and formulates her replies by referencing what the two of you chatted about in the past. The more you talk, the more she "remembers" about you.

CNNMoney reports this technology leaves some critics speechless. Concerns include privacy, hacking and the fact that children aren't really conversing with a magical doll so much as telling toy conglomerate Mattel what they like and dislike. Mattel dismisses those concerns with assurances of safety and security.

Hello Barbie should hit store shelves sometime this fall, for about $75, the report states.
