Talent will make his first stop at 1:30 p.m. at Missouri State University, where he will join officials from MSU and the U.S. Geological Survey to announce a partnership to address water quality issues in southwest Missouri. The announcement will be made in Plaster Student Union Room 317 on the MSU campus.
Talent then will head west to Joplin to announce $5.88 million in federal funding for a major transportation project. The 4 p.m. conference will be on the fifth floor of Joplin City Hall, 602 S. Main Street.
The funding is instrumental in the development of the Zora Street and Highway 43/Main Street interchange. The creation of a thoroughfare will aid traffic traveling east and west through Joplin.
The project was one of 19 approved by taxpayers in August to be paid for by a three-eighths cent capital improvement sales tax for road improvements.
