Talent was called back to Washington, D.C., said Kirstie Smith, communications coordinator at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce. A spokesperson for Talent could not be reached.
Talent was scheduled to be in Joplin at 4 p.m. to announce $5.88 million in federal funding he helped secure for the development of an interchange at Zora Street and Highway 43. The creation of the thoroughfare will aid traffic traveling east and west through Joplin.
Smith said a new announcement date has not been set.
