Takeda Pharmaceutical Co.'s shareholders on Wednesday approved its $62 billion bid for Shire PLC in the United Kingdom.
If finalized, the deal would be the largest ever overseas acquisition by a Japanese company.
The deal is subject to approval by Shire shareholders, who are expected to meet later on Wednesday.
