The credits are for a nine-year period and total $2.975 million, according to a DED news release. That’s based on the company’s projected 650 jobs at an average annual wage of $18,720 and an investment of $17.5 million at the call center, 2645 N. Airport Plaza.
“T-Mobile has been an excellent addition to Springfield’s business community and is highly regarded by its exceptional employees,” Gov. Matt Blunt said in the release. “I am pleased to announce this additional assistance to help T-Mobile create more jobs in Springfield.”
The call center opened in May 2006. It employs more than 600, according to General Manager Mark Conrad, and about 100 job openings remain.
T-Mobile previously was approved for $1.48 million in new-jobs training incentives.
The Enhanced Enterprise Zone program offers incentives in specified areas that have the potential to create sustainable jobs in a targeted industry and have a demonstrated impact on local cluster development, according to the release.
