T-Mobile to give customers free cell towers

Wireless carrier T-Mobile U.S. Inc. (NYSE: TMUS) announced Monday its customers with a “Simple Choice” plan can now receive a free mini cell tower to get more bars when they’re needed.

The company has previously given customers free Wi-Fi routers to allow customers to make calls and texts from their home Wi-Fi networks, but this is different.

The 8.5-inch mini towers, which T-Mobile calls CellSpot devices, help users connect to the company’s 4G-LTE cellular network – not Wi-Fi. The devices serve a radius of about 3,000 square feet.
