T-Mobile seeks big fee, management in Sprint talks

T-Mobile US Inc. is making strong demands to be compensated by Sprint Corp. in the event regulators kill a merger of the two carriers, a main factor the companies are working through before agreeing to a deal, people familiar with the matter said.

According to the Wall Street Journal, T-Mobile majority owner Deutsche Telekom AG is seeking a breakup fee of over $1 billion and promises some of the T-Mobile brand and management team would remain after a merger.

The carriers are working toward securing a merger deal. However, regulators have said they will review the merger skeptically.
