T-Mobile plans hiring event for Springfield operation

Posted online
T-Mobile USA Inc. has planned a hiring event to add to the ranks of its northwest Springfield operation.

The call center, which last year was spared in a round of closures by T-Mobile, has marked a need for 90 additional workers, likely to be hired in the second quarter, according to a news release.

Springfield call center General Manager Mark Conrad said the hires would replace workers who last year were asked to step down via attrition.

"We're growing back the site," he said. "We've been given the go-ahead to ramp back up."

Conrad said the full-time positions are for customer service and sales representatives, and the addition of 90 new employees would bring the call center's count to around 500, including support staff and management.

The hiring event is scheduled for April 11 at 2645 N. Airport Plaza, the facility housed in the former airport terminal.

T-Mobile's April 8 announcement comes three days after competitor AT&T Inc. committed to hiring 27 for its downtown Springfield call center.[[In-content Ad]]
