T-Mobile: Always Moving, Always Motivated

Posted online

T-Mobile’s Springfield hub bustles with activity. There’s music playing, hundreds of employees in headsets are chatting with customers, and others are seen walking through with sandwiches because it happens to be “Free PB and J day”.

“This is a typical day here, in the fact that no day here is typical,” says T-Mobile’s Springfield call center site director Drew Williams. “Employees are the backbone of every company, and T-Mobile has created an inspiring corporate culture which is critical to keeping employees happy and healthy – not to mention motivated to do truly awesome work.”

T-Mobile’s culture of inclusion and mantra of “be you” have been at the heart of the company since the beginning. “Because we embrace diversity, we are able to bring in fresh perspectives and learn from each other so we can better serve our diverse customer base,” says Williams. The call center industry is known to have a high employee turnover rate. Williams says the Springfield site has one of the lowest in the industry and it’s all due to the culture they’ve created.

“Environment and culture are sometimes hard to measure,” says Williams. “Sure people stay because of the great benefits and all those things on paper, but we care about the whole person. Our mentality is to invest in our people and we’re proud to have created an environment that they want to be in.”

T-Mobile offers benefits like 401(k), generous PTO, and flexible work schedules. Employees are also eligible for perks beyond base pay, such as employee stock grants and monthly bonus potential. Tuition assistance, medical benefits, and childcare subsidies are also offered.
