Synovus in talks to buy financial arm of Cabela's

Georgia bank Synovus has agreed to buy the financial arm of Cabela's, potentially clearing the way for a buyout by Bass Pro Shops.

After buying World's Foremost Bank, Synovus plans to sell the credit card unit to Capital One and keep the deposits. Capital One previously was expected to buy it, but that part of the Bass Pro-Cabela's deal did not receive regulatory approval.

Bass Pro is in the process of buying Cabela's in a deal valued at $5.5 billion.
