Syngenta agrees to buyout, but not by Monsanto

Swiss pesticide and seed company Syngenta AG hs agreed to a buyout by ChemChina for $43 billion in cash.

The amount is less than the nearly $47 billion offer the company rejected from Monsanto last year.

Last year, Syngenta rejected three offers from Monsanto. They were a combination of cash and stock, rather than all cash.

ChemChina is the business name for the government-owned China National Chemical Corp.
