Posted online
Missouri Rep. Thomas Long, R-Battlefield, was chosen to serve on the board that is charged with creating and supporting new and emerging high-tech companies in Missouri.

Long was appointed to the Missouri Technology Corp. board by Speaker Steven Tilley, R-Perryville, according to a news release from Long’s office.

The Missouri Technology Corp. is a public-private partnership created by the Missouri General Assembly to assist and advise legislators regarding new technologies and to focus on increasing Missouri’s job force and economy through bioscience and agricultural advances. The 15-member board assists the organization's efforts to invest in businesses and programs that promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the state’s economy.

"I look forward to working with the board to bring high paying, technology-based next-generation jobs to Missouri," Long said in the release.

Jason Hall, who previously was executive director of the Missouri Technology Corp., on Dec. 30 was named director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
