SWMO cities receive funding as part of nearly $17M in statewide grant awards

Posted online

The southwest Missouri cities of Crane, Fair Play and Kimberling City are included in a statewide Community Development Block Grant funding round totaling roughly $16.7 million through the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

The three cities combined are receiving roughly $2 million in grant funding, according to a news release. The highlighted cities are located within Springfield Business Journal's coverage area of 50 miles outside of Springfield.

The funding comes from the CDBG program's fiscal 2025 competitive grant cycle. Funds are earmarked for projects including street and roadway repairs, demolition, stormwater and drainage improvements, and construction of public facilities.

The three local grant awards are as follows:
• Kimberling City, $752,324 general infrastructure grant for sidewalk improvements
• Fair Play, $622,594 general infrastructure grant for roadway improvements
• Crane, $583,700 community facilities grant for Crane Creek city park improvements

“Every grant awarded is addressing critical needs, including public safety, while making communities stronger," Gov. Mike Kehoe said in the release. "We look forward to the positive results that the CDBG program helps achieve by providing more secure foundations for success.”
