Swiss economy stagnates as machinery sales fall

Switzerland's economy stagnated in the second quarter, data released Tuesday showed.

According to a MarketWatch report, moderate consumer spending growth failed to offset a drag on machinery exports from sluggish demand in European markets.

The country's gross domestic product was unchanged in the second quarter from the previous quarter, but rose 0.6 percent from second-quarter 2013.
