Survey finds Midwest economy is growing

Posted online
A monthly survey of business leaders released Tuesday finds that the economy in nine Midwestern and Plains states, including Missouri, should continue steady growth.

The Creighton University survey, which also covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota, reported an increased confidence index and the region’s overall economic index. The confidence index increased in June to 63.6 from 62.5 in May, while the economic index crept up to 60.6 from 60.5 in May, hitting a three-year high, according to the Associated Press.

Survey organizers say any score above 50 indicates an expectation of economic growth.
