Survey: Americans gloomy over financial future

Sixty-one percent of Americans surveyed aren’t holding out much hope that the economy is going to get better anytime soon, according to a CNBC report.
 
According to the survey, conducted by CNBC in the third quarter, the biggest drop in confidence is among the middle class, which reported they expect only modest, if any, gains in wages and the values of homes.
 
The bright spots: Inflation isn’t much of a concern and those with stock portfolios report higher gains compared to a year ago.
