Surge in ticket sales pushes Mega Millions jackpot to $540M

A last-minute surge in ticket sales has pushed the value of the Mega Millions jackpot to $540 million.

The next drawing is scheduled to be held tonight.

If a winner is chosen, the individual can choose to take the total jackpot in annual payments over 29 years or opt for a one-time payment of $380 million, minus taxes.
