The U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up a case challenging a Kentucky abortion law.
Kentucky abortion provider EMW Women's Surgical argues the fetal ultrasound law violates physicians' First Amendment right of free speech.
The law requires physicians at Kentucky's last abortion clinic to show every patient their ultrasound images, as well as detailed descriptions of the images and the sounds of the fetal heart tones prior to an abortion. Physicians must do so even if the patient objects or the physician believes the act could cause harm to the patient.
