SunEdison plans to file for bankruptcy

Solar energy company SunEdison plans to file for bankruptcy protection in the coming weeks, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

It's a dramatic turn for the Saint Peters-based company, which had a market value of nearly $10 billion in July.

In the Chapter 11 filing, creditors are likely to take control of the company and its portfolio of power projects, sources told the news service.
