Sun Solar LLC showed off in its new headquarters yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
Wil Hangar, a spokesman for the solar panel installation and consultancy firm, said Sun Solar officially had all of its departments fully functioning at the 2531 N. Patterson Ave. headquarters as of Oct. 1. The company began moving in May from 1900 W. Sunset St.
“With our rapid growth, we will be expanding and hiring soon,” Hangar said via email. “We have incredible employees, in every department, and they have made our growth and expansion possible.”
Sun Solar invested roughly $60,000, Hangar said, to renovate the 15,400-square-foot former home of Springfield Sign & Graphics Inc., which in 2017 moved to Partnership Industrial Center. Sun Solar purchased the building for $1 million, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
“When we acquired the new location, we immediately started construction and built additional walls and offices, so we have increased our office space while keeping the warehouse space the same,” Hangar said. “It has already been such an incredible benefit to have all our departments housed under one roof and able to communicate easily and quickly.
“As a company, we’re all about efficiency and energy use, and we used that mentality when retrofitting the new headquarters.”
Sun Solar announced the move earlier this year with plans to add 30 new jobs. At the time of SBJ’s previous reporting in April, Sun Solar had hired 15 of the positions with plans to fill the other 15 within two months. Hangar said this morning the company plans to hire 10 new employees within the next two weeks to put its count at roughly 120 by year’s end.
The company in August ranked 1,351st on the annual Inc. 5000 list for fast growth. Sun Solar reported three-year revenue growth of 353 percent to $19.5 million in 2017.
While a disruption in international trade has the capacity to hurt local farmers and ranchers, beef producers are having a good go of things at the moment.
