Commercial service officially has returned to Branson Airport.
Airport officials joined with those from Minneapolis-based Sun Country Airlines to celebrate the start of service during a ribbon-cutting event yesterday. During the ceremony, the inaugural Sun Country flight from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport touched down at Branson Airport.
"Flights to Branson will operate twice a week though mid-November," officials said in a news release.
The airport earlier this year announced Sun Country had signed on as service provider.
Prior to that, Frontier Airlines chose not to continue providing commercial service to Branson Airport this year, leaving private flights as the only travel option at the airport, according to past reporting.
Sun Country Airlines previously operated at Branson Airport around its launch in 2009, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
