Lewisville, Texas-based Summit Truck Group LLC expanded in Springfield through the purchase of Jenkins Diesel Power Inc.'s Isuzu franchise rights, according to a news release.
The deal closed April 1 for undisclosed terms, said Summit Chief Financial Officer Scott Gill. Both companies sell commercial trucks.
“Jenkins Diesel has a long history of serving the Springfield area since 1956, and we will continue that tradition of customer service as we incorporate their Isuzu business into our existing Springfield dealership," Gill said in the release.
Summit CEO Justin Fink said in the release the trucking product line would benefit plumbers, electricians and landscapers, among other small-business categories. The Isuzu product line already was sold at Summit's Lowell, Arkansas; Memphis; and Oklahoma City dealerships. Summit’s Springfield dealership is at 2635 E. Diamond St.
The local acquisition follows two purchases in Missouri last fall. Summit in September entered agreements to buy the majority of the assets of Sedalia-based Trans Central Suppliers Inc. and Cape Girardeau-based Wiethop Truck Sales Inc., according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
