Sometimes we like to say that creativity knows no bounds, but that’s not exactly true, is it? Creativity knows many bounds, like the size of a canvas for a painting or one’s vocal range for a song. When designing a project, the boundaries can be spatial, legal or financial. But sometimes limitations are just the thing to ratchet up creativity. Take a sonnet, for example – just 14 lines and 140 syllables but conveying the firepower of Cupid’s arrow. Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? The projects here – housing, offices, schools, roadways – promise to testify to the design and problem-solving prowess of the architects and engineers who envisioned them for many seasons to come.
